What does a deeper relationship with God look like?

Whether we go to church or not, we all have seen people who are more spiritual than us. Some of us can fear this but some of us are intrigued by this. It might make you wonder, “Wow, how did this person get to that point in life.” or “How can I get to that point in life.” Some of us often look for different ways to better ourselves by trying to better our relationship with God. Even though that is one of the greatest ways to better yourself, even I can admit, that trying to get a more efficient relationship with God is difficult. A lot of us wonder, ‘What does a deeper relationship with God even look like or feel like?’ and ‘How can we build a deeper relationship with God?’ Especially when you feel like you may not be able to be who you are and praise God at the same time, how can we go about this? There are ways to build your relationship with God by simply altering and adding small varieties of activities to your every day life. Some examples are:

  1. Increasing your prayer life-Simply praying for 5 minutes a day or just thanking God for letting you wake up this morning is a good start.
  2. Reading more of the bible-The bible is more relatable than we think, there is something for everything we are going through. Taking a couple minutes out of your day to read a couple scriptures will make a positive impact.
  3. Let go and let God- We need to learn to trust God when things get rough, you will be more at peace.
  4. There is two-way communication-We often forget that God has his own way of talking to us. Don’t feel discouraged if you feel like you aren’t getting answers, you must listen.

If you’re on the path of trying to closer to God or you’re already close to God but are still seeking a better relationship, remember not to get disheartened. Always remember that God already knows who you are and what is in your heart. All you have to do is open the door, and he will come in.
