Four Ways To Defeat Suicidal Thoughts
Posted on
Suicide has been one of the major issues going on today. It is as if more and more people are resorting to suicide because they feel like the world will be a better place without them. That is far from the truth and unfortunately some never had the chance to realize how important their life really was. The numbers for suicide are only going up, especially around the holidays. Even though the holidays are now over, that doesn’t mean the numbers will decrease.

Social media has always been the go to place to escape from the world or to make your mark on the world. It's used to build up businesses and unfortunately sometimes used to discourage one another simply yourself. I want to touch on how social media goes hand in hand with identity crisis.
I can't think of a better example than to use the television show, Catfish.

Loneliness: Let's Talk About It

Throughout our "Identity" series, we've touched on a lot of different topics which should stir up different questions about self-awareness and our mental and emotional state as individuals. Usually when discussing topics such as mental health and highlighting issues like depression and anxiety, we tend to miss the overall "big picture". Even though we have learned a lot about these topics within the past couple of months (if you missed out, make sure you check out our previous blog posts!), one thing we cannot neglect the main idea of this entire series: how these issues affect us on both an individual and community-based scale when ignored or overlooked. When we don't discuss what is going on around us or within...

Addressing the Issues

Throughout the month of October, we have further introduced and analyzed the notion of denial. At the start of the month, were able to define and give examples of what denial is and how it affects the average individual, through discussing the causes, signs and symptoms that come along with it.

A lot of times when people take a platform to testify or speak of all the things that God has done in their lives, they often speak of all the ways that the process and end result has benefited them. This is to say that, although we are encouraged to embrace every breakthrough and victory that God allows us to experience, it is also important to remember that we are blessed to be a blessing. We tend to overlook the fact that our fortune and abundance is not for us to keep;...

Living Out Your Passion: Purpose-Driven Life

What is purpose? Do I have one? What is the meaning of life? Many people often try to find the answers to these questions from different avenues such as religion or science. Yet are left with the thought of . . . does life even have a meaning or purpose to it? Ralph Waldo Emerson a poet from the 1800 once said that “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” A good majority of people spend the majority of their lives trying to figure out our purpose on this earth. Some of us end...
