"If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything."
Well what is social pressure?
Social pressure (also known as peer pressure), is when a person performs an act in order to be liked and respected by a certain group of people.
I’m sure we all have stories on how we fell into peer pressure at one point in our lives. We are always told to just say no to social pressure. However, that is easier said than done. So what are some ways to overcome social pressure, especially during a stressful time in your life? One thing that is helpful is having an outlet. Hobbies such as writing, dancing, singing, crafting, being involved in sports, collecting, and so on can help. Having something to give you a peace of mind is what will get you through the hardest times of your life.
We’ve all heard the saying, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.” Having confidence in yourself and taking the time to go on a journey to really find out who you are and falling in love with yourself will make it easier to say no to activities you rather not be involved in. Having great friends is also very beneficial. Surround yourself with people who not only accept and love who you are but also accept and love who they are. Surrounding yourself around people who also have confidence in themselves and only want the best out of life will want that for you also and will most likely not pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do. They will also be there for you in every way possible and help you find yourself through your identity crisis. So what I’m trying to say is, choose your friends wisely because that will cause either a positive or negative impact on your life.
Dealing with social pressure can be a lot to deal with. Therefore taking these extra steps are important and can be valuable on this adventure called life.
